The Brief
Our sister company Unitech Projects worked in collaboration with Unitech Engineering and Driver Southall (also part of the Unitech Group) to deliver a new packing area fit out for British Pepper and Spice, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of herbs and spices.
The project took place at the company’s Northampton warehouse and involved the design, supply and installation of a complete production and packing area.
As main contractor and principal designer, Unitech Projects was responsible for coordinating the full installation, working closely alongside Unitech Engineering and Driver Southall throughout the project.
The new area needed to support packing operations while also providing a clean, practical and hygienic working environment suitable for food production.
The Solution
Unitech Projects managed the full build and installation process from start to finish.
A stainless steel platform manufactured by Unitech Engineering was installed to support two Ishida weigh heads and two Allfill units supplied by the customer.
Above the platform, structural steelwork and a concrete deck floor were installed to create a new mezzanine area. This space was designed to house a vibratory feeding unit supplied by Driver Southall, along with rip and tip stations and bag filling stations manufactured by Driver Southall and Unitech Engineering.
Below the mezzanine floor, Unitech Engineering designed and manufactured two conveyor systems which were installed as outfeed conveyors from the Gainsborough packing machines.
To create a hygienic production environment, the walls and ceilings were fitted with composite hygienic panels. These surfaces provide a clean and practical finish that is easy to wash down and maintain.
Alongside the production equipment, Unitech Projects also supplied and installed:
- Stainless steel kerbing
- Resin flooring systems
- Doors and windows
- Lighting systems
- Ventilation system with air handling unit, ducting and vent grills
The project installation began in early December and was completed through close coordination between all teams involved.
The Result
The completed packing area now provides British Pepper and Spice with a modern, hygienic and efficient production space designed around their operational requirements.
By managing the full project in-house, Unitech Projects delivered a coordinated solution covering fabrication, flooring, ventilation, production equipment and installation.
The customer provided positive feedback throughout the installation process and was extremely pleased with the final result.
